National Bahá'í Institute For Human Resource Development Pakistan (NBIHRD)

This institute was established by the National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís of Pakistan in response to the call of Universal House of Justice in 1996.

The National Bahá'í Institute is an educational institution, which offers Basic Courses of The Ruhi Institute in Urdu & Sindh languages (also in Persian and English if needed) that are designed for group study using participatory method (i.e. Study Circles).

It dedicates its effort to the development of human resources for the Spiritual, Social and cultural development of the people

The Institute operates under a Board of Directors appointed by the National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís of Pakistan.

A National Coordinator attends to its day-to-day operations.

National Coordinator is assisted by Area coordinators and many Tutors (Resource Persons) who actually offer the courses in study circles.

Although during past times National Bahá'í Institute has offered workshops for the Lawyers as well as individuals and NGOs working for women and children to make them aware of Bahá'í Personal Laws. Also its correspondence Course department offered basic and advanced level correspondence courses (in Urdu) for Bahá'ís and non-Bahá'ís (3500 individuals enrolled for one of these courses). But now as priority the institute focus on the Basic Courses of the Ruhi institute.

Although The Ruhi Institute is started from Columbia with time its area of influence spread to the several other countries of Latin America, now worldwide.

The Ruhi Institute Philosophy regarding education has emerged from consistent effort to apply Bahá'í principles to the analysis of social conditions.

The Bahá'í Faith sees the present chaotic conditions of the world as the turbulent adolescence of humility and believes that the moment is ripe to enter the construction, dynamic but stable stage of maturity.

In the present days world Bahá'ís identify two parallel processes operating at all levels.

One is the process of disintegration and the other is the powerful forces.

The Ruhi Institute aims to become a channel for the Spiritual forces of our time.

Through applying the forces of integration in their lives, humanity would be empowered to contribute to the establishment of a world divine civilization.

The Ruhi Institute disagrees with concepts of social change, which believe that social structures will change by themselves once the individuals is saved.

The Ruhi Institute also rejects and another widely accepted theory that deny individual freedom wants to change the society only by changing economic and political structures.

The Ruhi Institute believes in transformation of individuals alongside creating structures for a new society and is working with this aim.

All individuals process a more or less developed Spiritual nature and are capable of being illumined by divine teachings.

These illumined individuals try to walk a path that is not a individual salvation but that of creating a new social order.

Another important element of the conceptual framework is its clear concept of participation. The Ruhi Institute believes that effective participation empowers individuals and communities to experiment with new ideas etc rather than being manipulated by others.

The Ruhi Institute promotes intensive participation by an increasing number of individuals in learning as first step in development process.

There is a constant effort to apply knowledge to improve the conditions of community life and create a new order.

Guided by universal participation both as goal and principle, the Ruhi Institute is crying out the educational activities that combines classroom learning and personal studies with acts of service to the communities.

Every course of the Ruhi Institute enables participants to develop qualities needed to be a social actor for transformation of the community.

Participants work for the well being of the community they are inspired by the vision of a New World civilization, which will embody the fundamental principle of the unity of mankind.

The Ruhi Institute's educational activities are always guided by a profound conviction in the basic nobility of human being, which is based on Bahá'í Holy Writings.

According to Bahá'í Writings man is to be considered as a mine rich gems of inestimable value Education, alone can reveal its value and enable humanity to benefit from it.

Education is not simply seen as the acquisition of knowledge and development of skills but in terms of development vast potentialities inherent in every human being.

Development of human potentialities and talents attain fruition when it is pursued in the service to humility.

The participants in the Ruhi Institute process get the opportunity to take part in the process at different levels.

Courses are designed along a service of "Path of Service" based on the conditions and the needs of the population served by the institute.

At the beginning participants learn new concepts and skills and later they act as tutors of the earlier courses.
